I got a while ago a bunch of CompUSA DVD+R and recorded them with no problems with my ILO. Now I got a different ILO, same model, and it doesnt wanna read the DVDs I already recorded... I tried with my PS2 and it says "malfunction".. so my question is, is there anyway I can get to watch the CompUSA DVDs? I took me like 2 months to record around 50 of them and now it seems that I lost all my info.. please help me with a hint about a player or recorder that can read this discs

Were they finalized ? You may have had to finalize them in the old recorder with its specific firmware version. I had a Cyberhome and they warned before doing any firmware upgrades to finalize any disks so they could be read after the upgrade.
Having said that the data would still be there. Do a search for reading unfinalized disks if that is the problem.
Also this may be a silly question but you are sure the ILO is working? -
CompUSA is low quality media.

yes, they were finalized... and of course than the ILO is working, I have been recording some DVDs lately with either Sony or Maxell DVD+R's
and yes, now I see why CompUSa media was cheap... IS there any other way I can recover all my info? -
With a good reader drive (like a BTC burner), maybe.
If the disc is really bad, no. It's lost.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

What happened to the first iLo? Normally I would suspect media too, but I have never seen every recording go bad after only two months especially 50 of them. Have you tried to read them on any player other than the iLo and a PS2?

>>What happened to the first iLo?
I returned it and got a newer one with a One Year Warranty after reading lot of posts about ILO recorders going bad after 90 days

Yes, but a while ago I tried them at my parents house.. they have a Toshiba player and they played perfectly, so maybe I should bring them to their house and see the results -
Testing them at your parents house will answer the most important question, whether it is a disk problem or player issue.

I have used nothing but the CompUSA DVD+R discs on my HD04 since I got it and have never had a problem with them playing.
I would also suggest trying them on another player to verify the discs are OK.
