Hi. I'm converting my Music DVD's to Divx so I can have my own Video Jukebox at home, however, some of the clips have noticable audio delay problems.

I've been following jimmalenko's excellent guide for converting DVD to Divx. The ripped files play back fine with Power DVD but when loaded into VirtualDub-Mpeg2 (before processing) the audio won't play back smoothly and is possibly a small amount out of sync (it's hard to tell). But, when the file is processed, the audio is noticeably delayed when playing back in Media Player.

I'm not doing any post-processing of the audio and the only video modification apart from the Divx Encoding is to crop the front and back end of the clips where needed.

It seems like some DVD's are consistently worse than others. That is, the amount of delay seems consistent across the captures of one DVD but different to another DVD.

I searched the forums for this sort of problem, but all the ones I came across referred to an increasing delay as the file played. My delay problems are right from the start of the clip.

Would really appreciate any help others can offer.

Another small question I had which I asked in another topic is why my 16:9 DVD would appear as 4:3 when processed? Thanks again for any help.

VirtualDub-Mpeg2 is not ever meant as a playback media player ...

so dont judge audio delay with it ..
