Maxell DVD w/out a media code

Has anyone ever seen or heard about a Maxell DVD w/out a media code?

Someone gave me some saying it was good because it was Maxell, but when I checked it has no media code. And before you ask, no it is not good media. I'm getting a failure rate on verify of about 50%.

Are they Maxell branded discs? A few months ago there were some bad discs in batches of Made in Japan Maxells that had messed up media codes.

Yes, they were branded on the top of the disc. Should have saved a couple but i returned them all. Sorry I should have made a copy of the top of the disc. The guy I got them from said that it was what he always used. But I think he was trying to rip me off.

I bought for spindle Maxell DVD+R from OD , they are made in Japan, MXL02 but I burned movie and see at the bottom have 2 sing or 3 rings and most of them are bad .... what was wrong with Maxell now aday .

Burn rings could be multi-speed burning. Not problems. BenQ burners are well known to puke MXL media, flaw of the burner.

Do you think the burner is going bad ??? b4 I used Plextorhad no problem with Maxell, now I use this Maxell with BTC DVD Buner from my Kid computer

BTC is long known to be varying in quality. A lot of their drives up and die. Says something that they've exited the ODD market.

BTC make excellent drives. One of the best readers on the market, strong laser, can recover pretty much anything. And the only flaw with their burning is the TY media writing, not good. I have seen other oddities in the past, but firmware upgrades always took care of issues on new media.

That's likely an issue.... upgrade the firmware now.

I've burned over 300 MAXELL MXL media with my BENQ burners with NO PROBLEMS WHATSOEVER, not one coaster. BTC drives are shitty burners period. Just take a look at the BTC FORUM at CDFREAKS.COM. MAXELL has had poor quality control on their media especially for the DVD-R. As for the DVD+R I've had no problems burning them in any of my dvd burners. :P

Many drives have known issues with certain medias that are otherwise quite excellent.

BenQ barfs on MXL a lot. Whether or not your personal experiences match up is of no concern. The overall situation is as such. Aside from burners with inadequate firmware, MXL media is some of the best media made. Period.

The same goes for BTC and TY DVD-R media. I have also had issues on MXL and MCC, new media, and upgrading to a firmware that had entries for those discs fixed it. If a BTC owner ran around saying "TY doesn't have good quality control" they'd be laughed off the site.

Burners are not magical. Burning media is a two-tier approach. The media needs to be good. And then the burner needs to support the media. The former is usually more of an issue than the latter, but the latter still needs to be remembered.

This is also why drives become worthless as they age and support shrivels away. Some drives have had their longevity increased thanks to hackers (2x4all and similar firmwares, once upon a time), but even those solutions don't last forever.

What a lame response.....Once again you ignore the obvious which is you don't own a BENQ drive at all...I haven't seen any one else say using MXL media on BENQ drives don't work....You're telling me my personal experiences match up is of no concern......LmFaO@you when you don't own a BENQ drive..... have you forgotten months ago there were reports of MAXELL DVD-R which were of poor quality?????members here reported they were burning coasters even with their PIONEER 107 drives.....I assume the average person would take heed to someone who actually uses MAXELL MXL media and the BENQ drives, rather than someone who doesn't even own one .....nuff said! :P :P :P
