I have a "ILO DVDR05" stand alone recorder.

I want to backup my old VHS movies, but seem like I can't.
Is there a way I can copy it? I tried vcr to vcr and it wouldn't work.

Thats probably because they have macrovision on it. Get something like a sima anticopy device. Of course you have to "own" the movie you are backing up

    Probably not.

Though I have found using different vcr's can work. I have a magnavox stereo 4 head vcr from 1997 that doesn't output or accept macrovision. I can record and dub comemrcial tapes with the unit with no other attachments.

Assuming you have a few different vcrs laying around the house try different ones, one may work without macrovision.

EDIT - plus the computer capture card hauppauge wintv pvr250 ignores macrovision. Just record away.

I have four vcr, but only one is tested. The other three, I just bought it no long ago, but cheap. I did a lot of recording because my original is starting to mess up like the lion king. Kids in my house, they don't take care of movies, they throw around and much much more.............
