First of all, I cut of the mpeg2 file with mpeg-vcr.
I then run a batch file the dose the following:Would this method inherently induce audio sync problems?
- bbdemux (mpg into elementary streams) -->
then either using besweet or ffmpeg to transcode the audio (m2a) to AC3 -->
multiplex (using the new audio and origional demuxed video) w/ mplex -->
then author with dvdauthor
Would purchasing TDA w/ the ac3 plugin (to use TDA to transcode) be worth it?

Mpeg-VCR is a good MPEG editor, shouldn't usually cause sync problems. MPEG video is always a little risky to edit, depends on the quality of the original video and how and why it was edited. It's best to monitor the sync after each step in the process to see if there is a problem. This, before you burn it.
I doubt the AC3 TDA plugin would decrease the likelihood of sync problems over a stand alone AC3 encoder. It would be simpler, though.
You also might try adding the AC3 back in during the authoring stage and let TDA mux it instead to see if that helps. -
Thanks redwudz...
I kind of ask because I get something like this from mplex:
(Used DVDAuthorGUI to get a log of what mplex spits out)
