  1. Hey Everyone- long time- I have a quick question for some of the Mac and PC guys out there.

On apple, for backups I use Mac the Ripper, DVD2ONEX, and then Toast. Works fine for me and I'm looking for an equivalent for PC for a buddy.

Is there a better or easier to use way for my PC buddy to do his backups than this set up? (he wants to be able to just keep the movie itself, doesn't need the extras)

He is currently: Dvd Decryptor, Dvd Shrink, Roxio easy DVD/CD creator.

He just wanted to see if there was a way to shave some time or effort from his backup cycle. Anyone know of a good way to save him some time or easy programs he can use as he is new to this stuff. Thanks everyone for helping.

well, if you're on a tight budget it sounds like he's got a cheap way going.

if you're willing to spend some money, then he could probably use anydvd, which will eliminate having to rip the dvd to the harddrive, use dvd2one or dvdshrink and only process the movie, and then he can burn with roxio.

but if he's looking to save money, he's probably got the best method going now.. considering that he's already paid for roxio.. the cheapest way would be

dvd decrypter -> dvd shrink -> dvd decrypter

i think dvd shrink outputs to iso, i'm not sure, i dont really use it.. but if it doesnt, you can just add imgtool classic in there, it's free too.

  4. I would suggest the combination of AnyDVD and CloneDVD2 which can be bought from Slysoft.com as a discounted package. A one-click solution. AnyDVD decrypts on the fly in the background and CloneDVD2 compresses and burns. Hope this helps.
