Having a few problems backup up dvds..
After the dvd is backed up. I can play it fine in my PS2, and in my bedroom dvd player..
But everyone elses dvd player has problems. The dvd will look and sound fine. But in about the middle of the movie it will get blocky, skip and sound will be off sync. Then it will come back to normal toward the endo of the movie..
Here's a basic run down..
put the dvd in 3 parts
1st third of the movie: Perfect copy
2nd third of the movie: Blocky, skips and audio off sync
3rd third of the movie: Perfect copy
This is how I backup.. I Use DVDdecrypter to save the files. Then I use DVD Shrink so put it on disk and burn. I have tried changing the deep option in dvdshrink with no extra results.
I sorta thought bad dvd player. But whats the chance of it happening to 3 people on 3 different players? Next was Media.. Nada 2 different types of media...
Ideas?
Computer specs:

Not sure what to think about those reviews..
never given me any grief other then what I explained above..
Why would is play fine in my Ps2 and in my set top in my bedroom?
Anyways I seen there was a firmware upgrade so I applied that..
We'll see if that does the trick. -
Sounds like a media issue to me cause I've had the same problems as you are having.
I can burn a movie on a FUJI +r (RICHOJPN) and it'l work great in my ps2 and an older APEX dvd player.
However, when I play it in a new APEX dvd player it blocks, skips and sometimes freezes completely.
If I use memorex +r's its totally backwards, as it works fine in the newer APEX, but does the above in the older APEX and ps2.
Kinda a hunt/peck to find which media each player perfers....good luck

Sounds like the exact problem
My set top in my bedroom is Apex brand. I bought that about 3 years ago for like 70 bucks. -
Forgot to mention before that SOMETIMES burning at a slower speed might help some.
Not always, but I've noticed situtations where lowering the burn speed has corrected some 'glitching' on different players.

Compatibility with various disc brands, software and other players is generally down to the Writer. If you have too many problems with any of these it's possible you have a dodgy sample. You can either spend a small fortune and a lot of time like I did trying different disc brands, writing speeds and burning software or you can cut your losses and get a different Writer. Changing from an AOpen to an NEC 3520 cured all of the above for me. Just wish I'd done it sooner.

I looked at me dvd writer and they say Recommended is a 1.2 P3
I have a Celron 1.0
I didn't get a chance to buy any disks. So here's what I did.
I created new hardware profile.. Using Blackvipers site, I disabled every system process except for like 3 processes. Then shut down all startup programs and rebooted to the new profile..
Took my memory usage from 230mb to 98mb average.
Then I used DVDdecrypter and dvdshrink to burn the Sahara dvd. Set the burn on 2x. (the lowest it would allow me to select)
Problem 1:
when I went to backup the dvd it said it was too large.. So I had to cut some stuff out.
I did the normal cutting out the languages except the english.
In the extra folder. I also had to cut out the Parts of that.. Then continued..
I'll check out the dvd tonight and see if it will jump for me... Let ya all know later. -
It is your media. I would suggest that at a minimum you go with branded Ritek G05's, and preferably, Verbatim Mcc03 or Mcc04 or Taiyo Yuden. They cost a little more up front, but in the long run you save money by not burning coasters.

I had a similar problem. My disk would play in my son's PS2 and some stand alone DVD Player's .Even mine would recognize it occasionally after multiple restarts. I tried different media first, firmware updates and finally replaced my writer with a Plextor 716A. Not a bad disk since. Good luck fixing your problem.
