  1. I would like your advice, I live in S.E. Asia and will be in the USA for a month and need to buy a DVD recorder. Very expensive here where I live.

The JVC DR-M10S (which can be purchased refurbished for about $140 shipping included) or the JVC DR-M100S (sells for $200 shipping included).

I will be transfering about 200 vhs tapes and recording tv mostly with the DVD recorder..
My question is, Im worried about getting the DR_M10 and having the "loading problem with no where to take for warranty".
Has JVC fixed that problem when they refurbish the JVC DR-M10s ?
Also I would like to make it region and MV free is there a hack for that?

I have already bought a lite-on 5005x as a backup but would like a better tuner for recording TV shows..I only get to the USA once a year so I really need to make the right choice.
Last question is the Hack for the lite-on 5005x the same as the ilo "04"
    Thanks for your help....

JVC DR-M10S refurbs should be machines previously "broken", like by the loading errors, and should be fixed. No hacks, no. It plays PAL and NTSC fine, however.

From a safety factor, you may be better off with a Pioneer. But even it can have errors (all machines can).

I'm outdated on LiteOn hacks, defer you to MrWizard, that's his game these days. My last LiteOn didn't need firmware hacks, did region-free and 3-hour out of the box. Didn't care about MV-free, I have a TBC.
