  1. Newbie Epson R200 owner here from the states. So far Im very happy with it.

I tried printing on the DVD. and it works. But I find it very difficult to center the print.

when I open Epson print CD, and open a picture as a background, it is shifted slightly to the right/left/up/down. (covers taken from cdcovers.cc) There is an adjustment to adjust print location, but changes you make dont show up on screen, so its very very difficult to guage. Even though I made the adjustments my print still came out off center. Is there a better method for doing this?

Also, I had a white ring on the outer edge of the disc. This didnt show up on the PrintCD software.

Load the background up as normal, then click Background again and choose Image Adjustment, then goto Template and adjust it there... finiky but it works.

Failing that, make yourself a template in Photoshop or Paintshop or whatever graphics software you have and do everything in there - save as a bmp and load that as your background... PrintCD is crap for tweaking.

  4. Using the software supplied by Epson on my R320 - which I believe works the same as your R200:
if you click on the image you imported into the program, it will put the image into edit mode, with drag points on each side of the image. I just drag the image side until it lines up with the circular outline shown on the screen and it comes out great.

I agree with the other posts above, and some of the tips there may help you to correct the problems you are having.

However, I would suggest that the problem is actually with the original source material. You mentioned that these are images you obtained from cdcovers.cc. I have noticed that MANY of the uploaded images there are horribly cropped, in the first place. Often, with the images scanned from the actual DVD, the originator has chopped off the edges at one border or the other, and often I have seen blank white space on one side or the other, creating a bizarre imbalance.

The images there are so poor, I only use them as a last resort. I often create my own images, often using the artwork from the outside cover. I also scan my own original DVD, when I like the original artwork. On some occasions, though, I am forced to use one of their DVD images -- so many DVDs have no cover art, or are merely a silver disc with a title --

When I do use an image from CDCovers.cc, I follow this procedure:

-I download the image from cdcovers.cc
-I load this graphic into Photoshop (almost any decent graphic program would suffice, of course).
-I carefully re-crop the image, and make sure I end up with a final image which is centered, even if I must "chop" a bit on the opposing side to make things centered.
-In a few cases, I have then been forced to "select the entire graphic" and paste it directly over the top of another (better) DVD image, from a previous job, in order to end up with a nice outer edge.

The above sounds more time-consuming than it actually is. Especially once you have done this a few times. I would estimate this entire process at 1 to 3 minutes' worth of effort.

Whenever I "import" one of these into the Epson CD/DVD printing software, it always centers it perfectly. If the original is properly centered, then so is the result you will see as soon as it loads. (I do have my Epson software set correctly for my own printable media, using the settings posted in the FAQs... these settings are different for different brands of blank discs).

If the advance work has been done, it is all ready to go when I load it up in the Epson software. I have not had a need to "move" or "resize" from within the Epson software since my first week of using it, before I learned what was causing my grief.

Hope something here helps you solve this,

    -Bruce
