  1. Ok, for about 2 weeks I've been trying to convert WMV to AVI or MPG. I've had no luck. I can convert AVI to MPG and MPG to AVI and thats all.
I've tried TMPGENC. Changed the directshow codec reader priority settings to 2. Used Avicodec to check codec, all good. After about 1 to 5 min. of converting I get this error from windows XP...

Faulting application tmpgenc.exe, version 2.58.44.152, faulting module mpg4dmod.dll, version 9.0.0.3133, fault address 0x00005e9d.

    OR

Faulting application tmpgenc.exe, version 2.58.44.152, faulting module wmvcore.dll, version 9.0.0.3133, fault address 0x000fb5a1.

    I've tried VideoCleaner and get...

Faulting application videocleaner.exe, version 5.0.4.40809, faulting module wmvdmod.dll, version 10.0.0.3646, fault address 0x000286fc.

I tried WMV to AVI MPEG DVD WMV Converter and get...

Faulting application wmv to avi mpeg dvd wmv converter.exe, version 1.0.1.1, faulting module wmadmod.dll, version 10.0.0.3646, fault address 0x0004e9ab.

    and AVIConvert gives me...

Faulting application aviconvert.exe, version 1.1.0.6, faulting module nctmpegfile.dll, version 1.3.1.120, fault address 0x0001f20b.

I killed my hard drive and reinstalled XP SP2 and had no luck. My PC is a AMD 2800+ with 256 ram. All my drivers are up to date. Thats the first thing I checked.

I used a video checker to make sure the video was good and it is. (sorry can't remember which one) I've tried to convert about 10 diffrent WMV's and always get the same thing.

    Can someone help me???

If every single program is crashing, then you gotta look at your source files, your codecs or maybe even your OS.

Now if you've reinstalled your OS and you think your source files are OK, then it may well be your codecs. Maybe try http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/format/codecdownload.aspx ?
    If in doubt, Google it.
