I am using TMPGEnc DVD Author and Nero Buning ROM to burn recorded TV shows onto DVD+RW's. They burn fine and play, but while I'm watching them, they hang up and skip. Is there something I can do to fix this?

usually its a problem with media or its burning methods, i.e. you've selected too high disc burning speed. Try lower speed.
Also nero is a POS software. It is well known to say it burnt the disc correctly, while in reality it did not.

Which burning program do you recommend? It won't let me burn it at a lower speed.

Ok, I downloaded the trial version of Prassi Ones and burned it at a slower speed and it is still hanging up on me. Would a firmware upgrade help this?

I am using Samsung DVD+RW. I am pretty sure I am burning it as DVD video.

perhaps that may be the culprit - the media itself.
I had problems with some +RW on my dvp-642 too, regardless of burn speed.

And don't forget that rewritable media are prone to have errors even after just few erase/rewrite (but there are exceptions, i.e. i have one dvd-rw erased more than 500 times - still no errors on it).

If you don't have same problem occuring with the same movie/image burnt on DVD-R/DVD+R (which would mean you are burning something wrong way or your authoring or disc image is not good) then definitly its a media issue (either not-so-good media, or simply media compatibility issue - discs are fine but not with your dvd player's drive; test'em on another - preferably different brand/make dvd player if you can).

    Firmware upgrade may help.
Usually newer writer's firmware have more compatibility with more brands of media.
Normally I don't upgrade software just because newer version is out if my previous one works just fine. But with drive's firmware - be it burner or player - I am upgrading them the day they are available/come out...

I am burning onto a DVD-R right now. Can you recommend a good DVD+RW?

<------ see the "DVD Writers" section there? (scroll up a bit, under "Lists")
Find your model and check out its media compatibility people have reported. Its not always 100% accurate, but should help (ppl have different firmwares and often same writers may have different 'guts' inside too, while its same brand/model...). Then do the check of those most compat. with your writer against your dvd player. This should narrow down the most compatible media for both.

I don't use +R/+RW almost at all, so Im not the person to ask about it
The only "+" I accept (for now) is dual layer (obviously until "-"DL becomes available, unless it will be as incompatible with standalones as +DL is, then I will just avoid both DL media unless I won't have any other option).

BTW - does the sweet honeybunnies in your avatar have a name?
There is bunch of horny administrators (mostly :P) who would like to see her-and-her-alike at higher resolution
    check it out HERE

I just tried it on a DVD-R and it hung up just like the +RW. I used a Maxell DVD-R. Both worked on my DVD ROM on my computer, so maybe it is a firmware issue? Do you use any -RW?

The girl is Vida Vida Guerra and she has one of the best backsides I've ever seen.

Well, since two totally different types of media produced same partially unreadable discs, Im rather sure the problem must be either with your authoring ways or way you burn the disc. Or if youre using any disc image made by someone else (i.e. downloaded from web) then someone else did bad authoring job, or it downloaded bad. Also the dvd player itself might be faulty (did u test the discs on some other player?). I cant see any other possibility since +RW and -R produced same kind of errors when playing.

Thx for the girl info - what a body...
