I am using this encoder (Surcode DVD DTS) for more than 6 months. Its a great tool but i want to ask that why this encoder is so slow, it take as much time to encode as MainConcept takes to encode MPEG-1 file to MPEG-2 using 1 pass without doing any frame rate conversions. I am using 1.536 Mb/s data rate and creating a DTS 5.1 from 6 mono wav's. No sample rate conversion. Soruce samlpe rate is 48.0 as well as destination rate is also 48.0.
Is this DTS format is that much complex? Is that much time is required for encoding or it's me who is doing something wrong???![]()

Man look at my computer specifications.I have 1 GB Ram while you have 512 MB.
Yesterday i encode 27 min long 6 mono wav's to DTS 5.1 on my P4 3.0 GHz supporting HT with 1 GB Ram and it took 973 seconds (16 minutes 13 seconds) to do the whole process. Then i did the same work on my P3 1.13 GHz 256 MB Ram Laptop and it finished the process in 951 seconds (15 minutes 51 seconds).Did the counting with stop watch.
Now it's clear that the encoder is independent of the CPU speed and RAM.
When the encoding was on the way on my P4 desktop i hit ctrl+alt+del and saw that it was only using 21% of my CPU's resources.Nothing else was running and 79% of CPU resources were free.Same was with the RAM.
