    Hi,

I have captured my Mini DV content to PC using Ulead 6 software. It created multiple .avi files, whose quality is quite good. Since it doesn't have DVD authoring features, I used Cyberlink DVD authoring software to created DVD, converting above .avi files. After creating files, when I tried to play this DVD files (VOB) in Power DVD, the quality is quite fine. Then I burned these files on to DVD to play on my TV, through standard DVD player.
The Quality is not coming out quite well. The still images captured (without any movement) are quite good. But when watching moving images/ images captured by moving the camera, the quality is very bad. The images are very distorted/ blurred.
But when I am watching this same DVD on my PC using POwer DVD it is coming without any distortions. That means this distortion is happening only in TV/ DVD player. (But my DVD player or TV doesn't have any problem, as I am watching other proffessional movies)

What is wrong here. What should be done, so that my DVD is played well on my TV, using std DVD player.
    Please help.

    Thank you,
    Ramana

    Sounds like it was deinterlaced.

Cyberlink DVD authoring software was probably what killed your files.

  3. Sounds like the wrong field order. Make sure your conversion program knew the source is interlaced and bottom field first, and it made an MPEG2 (VOB) file that is interlaced and top field first.

You need to match interlace from source to finish.
Bottom source is a bottom output. Top source, top output.

Sorry if I sound basic, but what is interlacing here. How do I ensure that interlacing done properly, I mean the settings. Should I avoid using cyberlink, and use something else ?

Two ways - gspot will tell you all kinds of info on your avi file. Also go to your dvd player software and click on the information tab - a submenu will should tell you if its interlaced or not.

After you confirm it search the forum for interlace and you'll find tons of reference material.
