  1. I followed this (http://www.vcdhelp.com/vcdmenun55.htm) guid and made a VCD with it no problem. Then when I tried to play it back on my PC I can not. With I-vcd player it says error and with WIN DVD which can also play VCD's it never lets me get past the menue.

  2. Don't worry, you probably didn't do anything wrong.

Nero5.5 has a bug when it authors still menus. These menus don't work on most software VCD/DVD players and even on some hardware players.

You will probably have to try another proggy.

VCD Toolkit, VideoPack 4, VCDImager +/- GUI is probably your best bet.

VCDImager is open source freeware. There are now a few GUIs out that make it easier to use for beginners (e.g., TSCV or VCD Easy -- do a search for TSCV or VCD Easy for places to download and guides).

For some detailed information on authoring with VCDImager: http://www.geocities.com/medinotes/vcd
