  1. I am after some help from you knowledgeable types. I like to piece together still photos, video clips and songs instead of printing boring photographs from my holidays.

Up until now, I have used WinDVD Creator which came free with my DVD drive, however after three days and countless restarts from corrupted files whilst producing the latest project (which only totalled 15 minutes!), I am looking at upgrading to something a little more stable.

Having looked at some of the products regularly mentioned, I have found none yet that accept the import of Jpg files as well as Movie, Mpeg and WAV files.

I have a fairly beefy XP Pro machine which I used regularly with Photoshop, etc without any virtual memory problems.

Any recommendations please? Thanks in advance

Most programs will accrept those input formats. There are two global approaches.

    1. Capture uncompressed, lossless compressed (e.g. Huffyuv), light compressed (DV, MJPeg, IFrame only MPeg2). Then edit in these formats, encode to DVD MPeg2 and DVD author as final step. Stills and music can be introduced before encoding or during authoring.

    2. Capture to DVD MPeg2, edit in MPeg2 and then author the DVD.

Most suites will do either. MPeg2 only editing is best done in a propram like Womble MPEG2VCR.

Demo these suites and see what you like best

    Sony Vegas Movie Studio
    TMPGEnc suites and components
    Adobe Premiere Elements
    ULead Video Studio
    etc.

  3. Thanks for this, I had downloaded TMPGEnc DVD Author 1.6 but found I couldn't import the jpeg stills. I will take another look at the other suite components. Thanks
