Perhaps someone can shed some light on my problem here...I know very little about PAL or European TV standards, so bare with me.

I have a copy of a certian 'mouse-ears' movie that they won't release in N America that I got from a friend in Australia. The tape is in PAL format. I recently found a Toshiba V-E70H VCR at a thrift store..which is a 6 head PAL/NTSC/SECAM VCR...by the looks of the unit this was made for the European or Australian market, and not north america...the cord was chopped off and I had to replace it.

The VCR does play the PAL tape, but it also appears to be outputting a PAL signal. I get black and white on the TV when playing it. I want to capture this in order to put it on a DVD. I have a few ways to do this but none of the equipment I have seems to be able to handle a PAL signal correctly...does anyone know a way around it with any of this equipment?

JVC DMR10 DVD Recorder - black and white with lovely 'rainbow' streaks throghout the picture.
ATI AIW 7500 - The 'PAL' option is greyed out...can it not be switched?
Gallant IV-550 (BT848) capture card - I get colour...some of the time...with this, picture keeps glitching and going out for long periods of time...allmost looks like some form of copyguard. I can't get the card to go any higer than 320 x 240 :P No good for DVD. Card is set to PAL-B

    Any suggestions?

Also if anyone is familiar with this VCR I'd like to know more about it...I have no manual or remote for it.

I can switch my ATI MMC software to PAL-60 if I need too, the card doesn't know what's connected too it.

What MMC are you using? 9.0 up I believe has support for this.
