    Hi,

I am having a very hard time removing a WDM driver from
my win98x system. fwiw, I thought it was on account of my
Winfast capture card.. so I uninstalled the whole thing.
But somehow, it (WDM) is stuck somewhere's on my system and
    won't go away. So..

Is there any way to remove WDM drivers that I'm not aware of ??
As many times as I install VFW drivers, the WDM keep showing
up only, in avi_io and every other capture app I use.

    System Specs
    * win98x
    * directX: 9.0x

    Thanks,

I was able to get rid of the damn WDM drivers, my trouble is I can't get rid of Winfast PVR on XP. I uninstall it, windows tells me it's uninstalled, must restart.... and it comes back. It's like it's spyware.

I'm reformatting shortly so I'm not digging around to find out how to fix it.

Yes, that is strange. I have Winfast TV-2000 XP.. a great 10bit
(adaptive 2D-comb) analog capture card. I recently re-installed
it in my rig here. I have no trouble with at all. Works every
time for me. For the time being though, I uninstalled it so
that I can get my VFW working again.. (for the time being)

I think there just might be an order for uninstalling the software
and drivers for that card, and you have to remove them in a certain
sequence. I could be wrong though. My OS is not XP

In my case (w/ the Winfast) I removed first, the Winfast PVR sw.
And, I think it cascaded'ly removed the other Winfast xxx(WDM) sw
and drivers in the same process. I can't remember the whole details,
as I was not making any special notes for it.. just trying to nail
    down my VFW situation.

and now back to my VFW issues ...

So far, I have not been able to figure it all out. I still have
WDM on my system. Been at it the whole weekend.

When I open avi_io and click on the Devices button, it pulls
down a drop box, with drivers to use. Currently, I have two drivers
in their.. Pinnacle DC10+ and Microsoft WDM Image Capture.

But, I think I know what is going on now. I think it is finally coming
    clear to me now..

** each capture card you install has a set of drivers to use. Some
do not include VFW. Some do. But in my given situation, my setup
keeps installing the WDM drivers when I re-install the ATI Rage Fury Pro
card drivers. It won't install the VFW. This is an old graphics/capture
card that just made the WDM driver's age. And I was sure that it came
with two driver version.. ie, VFW and WDM. Perhaps it only comes with
WDM, and I was confusing other cards that came with both. I was sure that
it did in the past. But, I could be wrong.. and confusing my other pc that has
VFW on it, with my previous arcenal of capture cards.

I will endeavor to try other routes.. such as my Osprey-210 capture card,
which I know comes with VFW drivers. It that installs correctly with
VFW on it, then I am correct with my huntch being.. that VFW vs. WDM
is dependant on the capture card's driver-equip readyness.. and in the
ATI Rage Fury Pro, it could be that it was only equiped w/ WDM, for
    instance.

I will report back my findings here, so that it might help others with
    similar issues as mine.

Thanks for your interest in my problems, hehe
