Is there one-step way to copy a VCD to DVD? I know I can pull the DAT files off the VCD, but it would be easier if there's a program I can use to just insert the two discs and go.
(If I add a bunch of files to one disc or change the order then it will also screw up my database of videos.)
I have a DVD player I need to use that doesn't play VCDs and it would be nice to have two copies of the same disc in both VCD and DVD+R formats anyway.

http://www.digitalfaq.com/dvdguides/convert/vcdtodvd/vcdtodvd.htm . Dont ever use +R dvd disc, rogue format. Use -R only.
Quality is my policy. -

you have to encode it again, for compatibility issues, to make sure it works 100%. that guide might work or not..... -
ok smart guy why? thanks to you im packing my bags.

Yeah I know it all has to be re-encoded, but I was hoping to find some software that would do a quick transfer to DVD without me having to manually pull all the files off and reencode them myself....

It's best to use ISOBuster to extract to MPEG then use TDA,Ulead VideoStudio, etc to author.
BTW...you don't need to reencode the video, just the audio needs to be 48KHz. -
use the guide that STORMIN NORMAN pointed out. that is how i have done a few and it works perfectly.

Apart from that, if you knew what you were doing when creating the VCD in the first place, there should be nothing else left to do. However, if you used some one-click-wonder software to make the VCD and weren't "on top" of it, or you got it from some monkey off the web, then you *may* need to re-encode, to fix things like open GOPs or GOP lengths being too long.If in doubt, Google it.
