  1. I have installed this program on 3 XP machines. It used to work on 1 or 2 of them - now the choice never offers itself in the right-click context menus.

The files are named *.MPG, they play with WMP.

I have over 40 entries in the registry when I search on "mpegfile" - too many to investigate as I am not a registry expert.

    Any ideas would be welcome.

Any way to run it directly and force it to deal with an MPG from the command line ?

Anyone else have this problem ?

    TIA, P-PA

Hi, I have the same problem, it's not showing in the context menu. I tried with .mpg, .mpeg, .mp4 and .avi w/o success. I checked the registry and there was an entry for the .mp(e)g file type (which I copied to the entries for the other mentioned file types) but it's not working at all.

I can get it working if I right-click on the file, go to 'Open With' > 'Choose Program...' then click 'Other' and browse to the MpegDetails program. Then I can see the details and preview the material.

I'm using Windows XP SP2 and I'll try it this week on Windows 2K also.

I haven't visited this tool for a while (it could do with an update....)

    But it goes like this:

You should have a registry entry for the mpegfile type as follows:

(this is created when the program is installed)

Then all extensions which are applicable should have the mpegfile set as the default:

    (HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT\.mpg)

some are there be default: .mpg, .mpeg but you can do it for others like .vob etc.

Yes, I have this, but it's not working, don't know why.

I just created a shortcut in my Send To folder and this works like a charme and is also much simpler then adding several keys to the registry.

The program works fine now including previews with subtitles.

    Thanks for your help.
