    Hello,

I was given CDs with video from my brother-in-law's wedding. I am supposed to copy it and forward it to relatives. The disks come from India and appear to be VCDs. I load them on the pc, open the drive icon and open roxio's vcd_play to watch them, which works just fine.
Then, I put them on my stand-alone player, a Samsung DVD P-244, which has been tested with other VCDs I brought from India (commercial ones; Nemo, Garfield etc). The disk, insteead of playing as video, does not produce any image but I can hear from the speakers the 'modem' or 'data' sounds as if the player is trying to play the disk as audio.

Unfortunately I am lacking basic knowledge on video and its formats. I want to copy these disks so that they can play on PCs (which I already did, copied them as data images), but I would like to also create copies that play on standalone players. Any help ??? I don't understand why I cannot see them on my player, either, both previous experience and the 'players' section here show the device supporting DVD.

    Thanks in advance
    Kostas

Open the disc in ISOBuster and give us a summary list of what it shows you. If it's a true VCD it should have many (if not all) of the same info as is shown on the [<-- What is VCD?] page.

Once we know more, we can help from there.

    Hi.

In Isobuster I see the following structure:

    CD
    -Session1
    --Track01
    ---iso New
    --->>> New

    and under this

    CDI

    EXT
    PSD_X.VCD
    LOT_X.VCD

    MPEGAV
    AVSEQ01.DAT

    SEGMENT

    VCD
    INFO.VCD
    ENTRIES.VCD
    PSD.VCD
    LOT.VCD

and the file vcd_play.exe on root.

Don't know if I am missing something.

    Thanks

you could try extract the video,
    https://www.videohelp.com/guides.php?guideid=95#95
and autor a new vcd with vcdeasy.

or how did you copy the vcd? you cannot just copy the files, you must do a full disc copy so you keep the vcd mode.

I will try what you propose, but won't this procedure further degrade the quality?

I didn't copy the files, I indeed did a disk copy, but could it be that the original that I have in my hands is actually a 'files' and not a 'disk' copy, so that's the reason it does not work on the dvd player ?

    Thanks

No, it won't degrade video or audio quality. You just take the video and "repackage" it again as VCD.

Yes, it's possible because the VCD structure that you posted from ISOBuster only shows 1 track.

    vcd4ever.
