I have a season dvd that has 4 episodes on it. What I did was rip all the files with dvd decrypter. What I want to do is keep the menu, but edit the beginning and end of each episode and also, delete all the extras. Can I do this editing and still have a working menu after re-authoring and backing up with shrink?

No. You can only change the beginnings and ends in reauthor mode, which throws away your menus.

You should look at DVD Remake Pro, or perhaps a combination of vobblanker and pgcedit.

  4. humm you can't edit the video of the actual episodes, with dvd shrink (i suppose you wana cutout the credits!! )...
but it you wana cut out the extras & keep the menus... just replace the extras with still images, saying "not available on this disc, bit*h!!!" .... (it's in the compression setting!)...

With Shrink keep all and you get to also keep the menus. Reauthor anything and say bye bye to the menus. The only way out is still image the parts you don;t want but I think the still image will still play for the original time of the clip. You have to hit next.

I don't believe it will allow you to clip the begining and ends as that will categorize it as a Re-Author and there goes the Menus again.

I myself hate menus and do movie only backups. For episodic DVDs they really are a must and I do agree with your wanting them.

    No.

As soon as you re-author (to be able to cut) you lose menus with DVDShrink. Simple as that.
    If in doubt, Google it.

  7. Do as said above, replacing the extras with still images, I use a black frame. Then open the video_ts in PGCedit, right-click the titles you blanked out, and choose "kill playback". You can find the clips using the preview.

Now all the clips are still black images, which are still on the disc (don't take much space), except the dvdplayer will not play them, they will be skipped straight over.

You can then edit the buttons in PGCedit so that nothing points to these clips anyway if you like.

Is there any way to keep the main menu on a disc while getting rid of the extras menus which take up so much space?

  9. Vobblanker to blank out the menus, and PGCedit to get rid of the buttons that point to those menus.

As stated, it's not possible within DVDShrink. It is, however, possible to get your menu back after reauthoring the DVD in Shrink:
