If I use this programme to convert a file to fit onto a CD, is it possible to play it through a DVD player that also plays CD's?

The reason is I have some home movies I have made in iMovie but I don't have a DVD burner only a CD burner.

Currently in order to send them to my family, I have to record them back in to mini-dv format and then onto a VHS.

My parents don't have a computer either so it needs to be on a VHS or a DVD and quite frnakly VHS is a pain.

I realise there will be loss of quality but could thatbe compensated by a reduced screen size?

    Thanks in advance.

VHS is less of a pain that messing around with unknown and unstable CD stuff. And VHS would be higher quality on top of that.

Do you parents a favor, give them a tape.
    Tapes are parent-proof.

Seeing as VHS is going out of date I suppose I should stop being so tight and buy a DVD burner.

  4. You can convert the movie to a SVCD. Video CDs can be unreliable and play in some DVD players but not others. Newer DVD players are better. My advice would be to try one out and see if your family can play it (or buy a DVD burner.) If you are concerned with video quality, you can split the movie over several CDs. At decent quality a full-length movie fits on about three CDs.

So if I choose my input file from my imovie file and then pick the output format as SVCD, it should be ok. Then I can burn the resulting file with TOast as SVCD format.?

If the file is too big for 1CD, will it automatically ask for another or do I have to do something in the programme first.

Please forgive my ignorance and very new to this, (hence my large imovie files - reluctance to edit!)

    MAny many thanks.

    Cheers.

I thought I had cracked it last night, but basically copied the wrong files across. I copied the .mpg and . wav files to the CD with TOast and it wouldn't play on anything other than the mac (without sound).

I did get the .img file but was worried that it was only a few bytes long.

I would be very interested to hear how this works, if anyone has the time or knows a good resource site.

Thank you for your excellent programme. Registered this morning!

    Keep up the good work.
