Does anyone have experience playing a double layer disc in a Liteon 5007 unit? All my commercial discs (apparently are DL since they are always over 6G) play fine in the 5007, but I want to backup some of my discs using my PC into either DVD+ DL or - DL and I am not sure if those would play back in the Liteon.
I saw some DL Verbatims at a good price so I am curious if I should give them a try.
Thanks.

In the DVD player list to the left over there, it says it won't play them. If you can buy just one, try it. I wouldn't buy more than one though, just in case. Those DL disks aren't cheap.

I am thinking about the same too. The Liteon website also says it can only play DVD+/- R/RW and CD. However, what confuses me is that why is it able to play commercial DL discs?Originally Posted by ebenton

Commercial discs ae pressed not burned. Big difference...

*EVERY* DVD player can read commercial DL disks. (Now that I have said that, somebody will come up with one that can't.) DVD movies have been more than 4.7 GB for a long time. Pressing these disks at a factory (they don't "burn" anything) is much more precise that burning holes with a laser in layers of dye on a disk on your computer. "Home-burned" DL disks may not be as easy to read for some players. Looks like your Liteon is one of them.
