Does anybody know anything freeware or shareware that I would be able to use to tell which version of divx was used to make a file?

I think I have to do an RMA for a product that should support Divx 4+ onward but I'm thinking it's not and need to make sure all the files I've tested are not divx 3.11 (which I'm certain they're not but I should provide proof to RJTech).

    Thanks for any help.

    Hi NG,

Try GSpot or AVICodec - they may give you what you need. At a minimum, they'll tell you the codec used.

Both would work since the fourCC of DivX3 was DIV3/DIV4. There is a version of ffmpeg by the way that can convert from DivX3.11 to ISO MPEG4 which should work fine if you use the fourCC DIVX (fourCC of DivX 4.x/Open DivX).
