    Dear Valued Customer,
Labor day is just around the corner, the kids are going back to school. Or, maybe you are going back to school. Which ever the case may be, we would like to offer you some savings with our Back To School / Labor Day Sale. As always, use our LD10 (10% off) coupon to save even more on everything you need. This coupon is valid until September 8th, 2005.
I don't readily know what they may have worth getting, but thought I'd pass along the coupon all the same. I would be very sure to avoid their crap media (Sonic, Longten, fake TY, etc).

Looks like it may save a few bucks on a new burner, some cases, ink supplies, etc.

WOW, then why is it I've had 100% success with over 3000 of their SONIC (fake TYs ) Maybe 5 bad personal burns which were my fault for screwing around with the computer while I was burning. .I also use a 5 drive duping tower for my commercial work. All my customers LOVE the results and not a single disk has failed. If that is CRAP, the I love their CRAP.

    Thanks fo the coupon anyway

He didnt say that their crap media dosnt work well, he simply stated what he would be sure to do. JToolman, there are always going to be at least a couple people, even with the crappiest media, that have amazing success rates.. But in general, they are just a few people out of many.

Thir SONIC brand has a TY02 code. I know they are fake. I'm just stating that in 4 different brands or DVD/RW I own including a duping tower with 5 Pioneer 108 D/L 16x drives I get pretty much perfect burns and scans. In fact my towwer will burn these at up to 16x though I really would not trust that sort of speed on these 8x discs. I am not at all defending or chastising anybody or anything. It was just a spontanious reply to a post. I normaly hold whatever Lordsmurf says in the highest level. He is a hell of a lot more knowledgable than I when it comes to video.
    Thanks

"Good scans" does not always translate into discs that work well with your player. I've seen machines totally lock up on dodgy MATRIX and SONIC junk.

You can buy plenty of good media for the same price or just a few cents per disc more.

I posted the coupon here mainly for RELATED items: burners, ink refills, cases, etc. I'd not EVER buy blank media from shop4tech. They do decent at non-media products.

The good media is way expensive, and they push their garbage far too much. Higher profit margin I'm sure, but there should be some measure of care in business. What ever happened to good products at good price? Junk and great price sounds nice, but it's still just junk.

    Scroll down to "Sonic" brands.
Most people have bad burns on these media. Again, crappy.

Not to mention the dye is not very good, the reflectivity sucks, and the construction of the discs leaves much to be desired. Overall just a very sloppy disc, more garbage from Hong Kong and/or Taiwan.

  10. (correct) i actually spend over $449 on Shop4tech.. i just purchase 400dvd-r.. for $75.
Type of Sonic media code is MUST 001...

the dye seem ok.. doesn't look any difference to the good brand. only difference is the top.. which is Sonic is Thermal white.

You cannot "look" at the dye to know if it's good. All your eyes can see is purple.

Although dye splotches and bubbles are known to be found on Sonic and Matrix media in the past. That's about all you can see, the more serious flaws.

MUST001 is still about as good as PRINCO or CMC. In other words, not the worst, but still not the best. Not even close.

  12. well i think i burn more dvd than you so i can tell you that it doesn't have any error in SOnic DVD-R (MUST 001 not sure about other sonic brand)

i scan my dvd-r.. and found no error.. if a dvd-r can copy back to the pc after i burned over a year.. it mean it is a good dvdr..

PRINCO is worst dvd-r or Maxtix. (stay away from this 2 brand)

I doubt that one. I've been at this since the technology started.

While your personal empirical data may have good fortune (which I still doubt, as there are a lot of unconfirmed and unknowns here), the general experiences of most people is that Sonic and Matrix branded media (LONGTEN, MUST, etc) is most often garbage. It's cheap stuff, and a "house brand" of this store.

Matrix and Sonic are essentially the same media. The exact same. They are both house brands of shop4tech and use any number of crappy codes, ranging from YIJHAN to LONGTEN to MUST to VDSM to fakes.

Reflectivity also has a large part in media quality, as well as construction. These media fail on both counts. Poor reflectivity reduces the number of devices it can work with (false read errors, in other words).

If you want good media, buy TY, MXL, MCC, SONY, etc.

  14. like i said.. i burn over 800 dvd-r+.. for friends, and family.. do u think i can afford those expensive dvd-r..

I use the dvdinfo to check the error when i first start using the Sonic (MUST 001) then later i found out it waste my time to scan error czu it doesn't have any error so why bother. Alos their dvdr work well in my dvd player and all my relative, friends, family.. aslong as the dvd player support dvd-r..

lordsmurf i think u should try it yourself.. and see the great result..

    Expensive?
On sale, those TY, MXL, MCC, and SONY are as little as 30-40 cents each. That's dirt cheap, amazingly so, in fact.
