  1. hey everyone,

    so heres the beef,
I have a xvid file with ac3 dts audio. I downloaded the ac3 filter which allows me to view the file on my computer. the problem is, i want to burn the file (as a xvid) onto cd so i can watch it on my dvd/divx player. now my dvd player does play the video but no audio. It does play however other divx's with ac3 audio. I use virtual dub to try to uncompress the audio but it says "no ac3 codec to uncompress the audio.." BUT it does rip the audio as ac3 format. my question is what program do i get to convert the ripped ac3 audio into uncompressed pcm audio which will work on my dvd player? OR , are there any other thoughts on what to do??

    greatly appreciated

  3. Download the AC3 ACM Decompressor from the tools section and install it. You can then uncompress your audio using Virtual Dub.

  4. thanks for the advice,

I tried the ac3 acm plugin but i get the same message. "no audio decompressor could be found to decompress the source audio format". i'm sure it was already installed aswell. virtual dub can extract the audio when i select "direct stream copy" under the "audio" tab, however when i select "full processing mode" it gives me that message. i basically can rip the audio but not uncompressed. i just need to change the audio into a different type or uncompressed so that my divx player can read it??

hope that helps , any other thoughts?

i'll try the four cc change next

  5. When you choose the full processing mode in VDub, choose audio>compression. See if the Ac3 ACM Decompressor (not the Ac3 filter) is listed. If it is, choose "no compression (PCM)". That should decompress your audio.

i jsut noticed the 'dts' ... as it was mentioned first it was ac3 .. so which is it ? ac3 (dolby) or DTS ?

if it is DTS you will have to convert it to ac3 ... see guides here ....

  9. hey,

it's a "ac3 dts" audio, using "avi codec", thats what it tell me it is. i tried that thing with vdub, its what i was always trying to do. i put it on uncompressed pcm, but when i go save wav, it tells me "no audio codec to decompress the format from source..." it must be dts because i have avi's with ac3 which my dvd player reads fine. i can extrat the audio as is with vdub but i would need to convert it from dts to something else and then join it with the video.

any thoughts as to which programs to use?

thanks for the advice so far.
