    Hi all,

I've been converting a number of TV shows from DivX/AC3 to MPEG2(DVD) using one of the guides at this site and things have been working well for all but two shows: when I multiplex the audio and video of either of these shows, I get a "xxx s packets cause buffer underflow" message.

When I view either of those shows, the audio and video go out of sync about 1/4 of the way into playback.

The original source DivX files playback flawlessly as do the demultiplexed audio and video files. I suspect that there might be an unnoticeable error/flaw in the data which reveals itself after transcoding the DivX video to MPEG2, but I have no idea how to verify this assumption.

Thre are nine other episodes of this show that I have performed the exact same procedure on, and they have not shown this anomaly. As a sanity check, I re-ran the same conversion procedure on the two problem files and they failed exactly the same way.

Also, I multiplexed the problem files using the mux in Womble, but got the same bad result.

Anyone have any insight on this problem? Is there a way to verify that the source DivX file does not have any corruption?

Any suggestions or recommendations would be greatly appreciated.

    Addendum:

Tried multiplexing the video and AC3 audio streams using TMPGEnc DVD Author, but got the same result.

I'm more convinced that the video stream is originally corrupted somehow or gets corrupted during transcoding from DivX to MPEG2... I just don't know why or how to fix it.

Guh, haven't figured out the problem yet...

Been searching this forum and the 'net for a clear-cut description of what a Buffer Underflow is and have come up with zilch... If I knew what a Buffer Underflow meant, maybe I'd have a clue to debugging the problem.

Scoured the Pegasys site and nothing. Their software spits out this cryptic message and we're supposed to somehow figure it out.

    Awful.

Sorry for the rant, but I've pissed the day away trying to decipher this idiotic message.
