Ave,
It's baffling. I don't understand why this keeps happening to me. I've been encoding/authoring for over 3 years now and this is the second time this has happened in the last 6 months. Never saw this problem before.
I use TMPGEnc Xpress for encoding my avi to m2v. What is happening is, to converts the video but if you play it, it's not smooth...the motion is not smooth. It's like it's freeze framing. It stops and move, stops and move. Not extremely prominent, but even a non-technical general viewer can see there's something wrong, the motion is not smooth as it's supposed to be.
When did this start? Suddenly!! It's like one day everything is fine and well, the next day TMPGEnc Xpress starts encoding with Freeze Frames.
I'll give you a background. This happened once before, 6 months ago, when i had upgraded my FFDSHOW codec to the latest available FFDSHOW codec. The exact same problem occured. I had a lot of difficulty fixing it, but eventually it was as simple as uninstalling the new FFDSHOW and installing an old, 2002 version of FFDSHOW which i fortunately had on one of my old discs. That was it! That fixed it!
Couple of months ago i had to format and install software all over again on my computer. I have the latest TMPGEnc software (Xpress, DVD Author, AC3 plugin etcetera), and i had installed individual codecs for XVID, DIVX, 3IVX, Quicktime alongwith my BeSweet, FFMPEGGUI and maybe couple other things. But this time i chose not to install FFMPEGGUI at all.
For the first couple of months my encodings didn't give me any problem at all. All encodings were going absolutely fine. Then suddenly one encoding gave an error. It said "Only video part could be opened. Audio could not be opened". Something like that.
Not knowing what to do, i installed the FFDSHOW, old 2002 version which had previously corrected my freeze framing problem, and the Errors were fixed! There were gone!!
But Alas! While the errors dissapeared, Freeze Framing returned!!
Now the problem is, if i uninstall FFDSHOW, the errors come back, if i keep FFDHOW, Freeze Framing persists. Uninstalling both FFDSHOW & TMPGEnc Xpress and installing Xpress again doesn't help either, errors still remain!!
What do i do!!!?
Mickey

What are using to play the clip? Have you tried it in more than one media player? Tried VLC?
