dvddecrypter. You'll have to have an ISO image first, though. IMGtool is good for that.

  5. It depends on what you want to burn onto your DVD. For burning, Nero is one of the better programs. (Note that I said "for burning", not for anything else.) Are you looking for something to only burn DVD videos or do you also want it to burn data? I'm not sure what you can find as a free, general purpose burning software that would be better than Nero. What kind of problems are you having in Nero, maybe we can help you resolve them?

I only want to burn. I recorded a show that I want to burn to a DVD+RW and when I add the file to be burned, Nero basically hangs up and doesn't load it. Basically, I can't burn it.

For dvd video i agree! First use imgtools classic to create iso then burn with dvddecrypter.

The screen hangs up and looks like this:

  10. Oh, Nero Vision Express
As I said, Nero is good for burning, but the screen you're showing is in the authoring stage, well before burning. I don't use NVE, so I'm afraid I can't help you out with that problem, other than to suggest using a different authoring tool.
Perhaps someone with more experience with NVE can help.

    What's another good authoring tool?

    gui for dvdauthor (free)
    dvdauthorgui (free)

    dvdlab (commercial)
    tmpg dvd author (comercial)

  13. I like TMPGEnc DVD Author (TDA). It's not free, but it's relatively inexpensive and is easy for the inexperienced user.
Try a tool search on "DVD Author". Several options

Ok, I got it to work using Nero Burning ROM and TMPGEnc DVD Author. I had to download the trial version of both, though, and I'm not sure I'm going to buy either. It's more involved than I thought to burn an .mpg onto a DVD-RW. I was under the assumption that it was more of a one click process.

I may try Folder2ISO & DVDDecrypter as MOVIEGEEK suggested. Both of them are free, right?

  17. I'm with the imgtools classic and dvd decrypter crowd.

TDA is almost one click, all NLE/authoring tools require some effort to produce a decent DVD.
    BTW...Folder2ISO & DVDDecrypter are free.

I started burning DVD Videos by trying to use ImgToolclassic and DVDDecrypter; it was nice to use, but the discs wouldn't play in my Apex AD-800 DVD player. So, I tried Nero, and the discs worked fine. I think it was any disc burned with DVDDecrypter that wouldn't work.
