I captured an HDTV video (Dick Tracy) from my Motorola 6412 cable box via Firewire and CapDVHS to my PC. And yes, my cable company knows ALL about it. I'm legal! I have the extention set to ".ts". I edit and convert the clip using HDTVtoMPEG2. I check the resultant .mpg and all looks fine. I have (among other apps) Nero 6.6.0.15 including the 5.1 plugin. After adding the clip to NeroVison Express 3 I have a light gray bar on the bottom of the clip. I have TMPGEnc 3.0 and know about using "mask" but that will kill my ability to produce a 5.1 disk.

On some clips there is no problem but others have had lines at the top or bottom as this one does.

    WTF?

I appreciate your help as I've been screwing with this for weeks and have decided I must have done too much LSD in college afterall cause I can't fix it...

Are you sure you are getting 5.1 AC-3 on that port? I don't think I am but haven't looked closely.

What HD ts viewer supports 5.1 AC-3? I'm looking for one.

PS: I think the line at the bottom is a byproduct of deinterlacing 1080i but I'm not sure. Try interlace.

The port delivers 5.1 when the source is broadcast with it. I haven't tried to verify it on my PC but the DVD's I've authored using Nero and that Multichannlel plugin appear to deliver 5.1. I use VLC Media Player or Media Player Classic most of the time.

Uh, "try interlace"? Where is that toggle?

So you are making 480i DVD?
I can't explain where the line comes from. It sometimes shows with VLC viewer.
Still not sure of AC-3 on the port here. Will look later.
I'm not sure of Nero for this. I rarely use it.
