  1. For some reason I am losing my boot data, I do a new format, new install, runs for average of 1 week, and then fails, says disc read error, or the occasional blue screened "UNMOUNTABLE BOOT VOLUME", I am losing my mind, -could this be a weak CMOS battery? Any ideas?

    Could also be a:

    dying hard drive
    dying HDD controller on motherboard
    loose/bad disk controller cable
MBR virus on the hard drive

  7. Try a linux install like Mepis or Damn Small Linux first and see if that works. If it does you know its your windows XP version. If not you know its your hard drive
