  1. I would like to install Google Desktop:
    http://desktop.google.com

But when I try to install it says that SpamSubtract is interfering with the installer and that I should remove it. SpamSubtract is something that came preinstalled with my computer and I've never used it and don't want it on there. I tried uninstalling it but it says "Error, cannot find Install.log". I then found SpSubLSP.dll, its dll file in windows/system32/, and manually deleted that and the folder in program files. I then rebooted but Google Desktop still gave me the same error. Any idea how to get SpamSubtract completely off my system so I can install Google Desktop?

I think thats what he meant when he said it gave him the error cannot find install.log.

Only real hope is to find the program out there somewhere. Hopefully they either have removal instructions or you can download it, install it, then uninstall it properly.

This is why all store purchased machines get formatted and manually setup with me. Even Macs.

Exactly, the uninstaller fails. Unfortunately I cannot find any documentation on it either.

Try to download and install the trial. Then remove the trial. See if that gets it.

  7. I don't trust Google.

For searching, I use Google via the scraper:

I know little about the Google desktop, sorry

You might have to clean your registery by hand by checking all associated keys, runing msconfig to remove it from startup and sysconfig to check the .ini's

@ Faustus, I don't wish to hijack this thread

You could also try the progam ccleaner (it is free) to remove the program/reminants.

  12. Hey thanks guys for checking back up on this! I actually somehow got it unistalled and then forgot about it. Either that or its still on here but the new version of google desktop doesn't have a problem with it. I used it for a big but now I'm using desktopsidebar:
    www.desktopsidebar.com , I like it a bit better
