    Hello,

I have a home movie DVD I created using iDVD (probably version 2...I can't remember). I have tried using OSeX, YadeX and MTR to rip the DVD back to my hard drive (for conversion to DiVX format to play through EyeHome).

Each ripper rips the video fine, but the audio is messed up. Quicktime doesn't understand it at all and VLC plays it, but it's garbled horribly.

    Any thoughts?

    Thanks!

You don't need to rip the DVD to the hard drive to read its VOBs because it isn't copy protected.

If you have Toast 7 you can simply choose the DVD in the Media Browser, drag your movie to the Toast Video window, select it and export to Divx or burn a Divx disc.

Other applications such as MPEG Streamclip can export the video directly from your DVD.

  3. Another choice is Cinematize, which usually does a good job at extracting DVD data to QuickTime.

  4. as frobozz says... this is trivial to do with toast 7... and no need to spend extra $ on cinematize or others.

The problem is because the audio is in PCM format, if the toast-option doesn't work, I've had success with DVDxDV which is made specifically for converting iDVD's back to DV format.

Thanks to all for the info. I have been busy dealing with Katrina and have not had a chance to check back.
