real media files won't play on MPC

MPC used to work fine, now it won't render .ram files. I've tried reinstalling and also reinstalling codecs but nothing works. I get error msg. "failed to render the file" I was trying to clean out some duplicate codecs last week, so I bet this was the problem. I've used winxp to revert to older registry, but still won't work.

Uninstall MPC. Use codec sniper to remove all RM/ram codecs and any other unused or corrupt codecs. Reboot, then reinstall MPC.
