    Hi,

I have an AVI that I am trying to convert so I can burn it to DVD, but whatever method I try I cannot resolve the classic "audio is out of sync with the video" issue!

The original AVI (NTSC) and plays fine on my PC before I convert it. After conversion, the result is out of sync. [Using many different conversion tools/methods]

I have just discovered an interesting phenomenon in that simply installing AVI2DVD on the PC makes even the original AVI playback out of synch. This is perfectly reproducible in that uninstalling AVI2DVD fixes the problem, reinstalling it re-introduces the problem. I'm now talking about just playing back the AVI using Media Player - no conversion at all now!

I'm sure this isn't an AVI2DVD problem per-se, it looks like a great product, I'm guessing its an installed codec type of issue or something like that.

G-Spot analysis of the AVi reports the Audio Bitrate info as follows:
    208 kb/s (104/ch, stereo) VBR LAME3.90.È
(Those 2 extra characters after the LAME3.90 are not typos on my part - they appear in G-Spot like that - is there any chance there is a hint in that somewhere?)

I have been completely unable to convert this file successfully whether or not AVI2DVD is installed - I only mention it as an example of how the behaviour is strange and maybe there is a clue in that that I can't see.

(If the AVI2DVD author is reading this post - please don't take this the wrong way - I'm not having a go at your product, I'm merely quoting it as a tool that is pointing out something I have not done or have done incorrectly!)

Any and all tips and pointers appreciated!

Some converters have difficulty with the VBR audio. Try demuxing the audio, then re-encode to a CBR mp3 or to a LPCM .wav file. This should fix it.

Hi - Nope, haven't tried that particular converter yet - I'll give it a go and see what happens - thanks for the tip.
