  1. I'm using virtual dub to cut out the sections of the video that I need. If I use the 'Save Old Format Avi' selection once i've selected the in/out points, will the outputted file have the exact same quality as the original?

    Also, if the original file is mpeg instead of AVI, how do I keep the quality the exact same for the outputted file?

    you want to look for something that can do a "stream copy"..i believe vdub will do this..i use womble mpeg video wizard and i love it! it essentially just copies that section to another mpeg file without re-encoding so you don't loose quality. It also is MUCH faster than re-encoding...

    Just go to Video > Direct Stream Copy and then Audio > Direct Stream Copy. No need to go to Save Old Format AVI, just use Save as or Save as AVI (or whatever the "normal" save option is).
