I'm using virtual dub to cut out the sections of the video that I need. If I use the 'Save Old Format Avi' selection once i've selected the in/out points, will the outputted file have the exact same quality as the original?
Also, if the original file is mpeg instead of AVI, how do I keep the quality the exact same for the outputted file?

you want to look for something that can do a "stream copy"..i believe vdub will do this..i use womble mpeg video wizard and i love it! it essentially just copies that section to another mpeg file without re-encoding so you don't loose quality. It also is MUCH faster than re-encoding...
