I have Adobe Encore DVD and I'm almost certain that it cannot import previously compiled Video Title Sets such as you already have with your .VOB, .IFO, and .BUP files. I also have DVD-lab PRO and I'm almost certain that it can import a previously compiled VTS. I'm not sure how much you will be able to work with that VTS, such as adding a subtitle to the movie, but DVD-lab PRO is available for download as a 30-day fully functional trial at www.mediachance.com
Tools used: ScenalyzerLive 4.0, Adobe Premiere Pro 2.0, Adobe After Effects 7.0 Professional, Adobe Encore DVD 2.0, IFOedit 0.96, DVD-lab PRO 1.53, Adobe Audition 2.0

  3. hi,

    the very same problem here...

correct me if i am wrong but when you try importing a dvd in dvd lab pro a wizard box pops up suggesting:
demultiplexing vob to video+audio (no single reference to subs!)
    use vob (don't join vobs)
    use vob (join vobs)

so seemingly there is a bib problem with subtitles not being imported... sad. adobe encore won't let you import those subs, and neither tmpgec dvd author.

    has anyone been successful???

    thanks in advance,

Successful how? In adding subs to a DVD? Yes, it's simple. Demux all your assets. I use PGCDemux. Get your subs into DVD Subtitle format (SUP). If they're not already in SUP format, and you don't know how to do it, then look around for a guide. If you still can't figure out how to do it, let me know what format they're in now and I'll tell you how.

Author with Muxman or IFOEdit, adding in the subs, or switching them with previous subs. There's your DVD. If the subs are a screwy color, fix them in PGCEdit. If you have that movie as part of an already existing larger DVD with menu and extras, then use the Replace button of VobBlanker to fit it back into that DVD. If you already have a subs menu, and want to replace an earlier language with your new language, then use this guide:

You can also mux with DVDAuthorGUI using text based subs.
