  1. I set out to re-code my simple tool for MMC 7.1 but after digging in to the MMC 7.5 registry I realized there were a lot of variables we could play with that (again) couldn't be accessed or weren't explained in the software itself.

I only have some much free time to do the trial and error work to figure out each setting. If you have time and would like to help make a useful tool for MMC 7.5 please check my temporary web page http://64.80.22.253/stinky/ or contact me directly at stinky@phat.co.nz for a list of things I'm trying to figure out.

There are strange values in MMC 7.5 for 'Res' - two types of MPEG-1/2 recording that have seperate 'Rtintervals' and we have the abiliy to set 4:3 or 16:9 and maybe others via the aspect ratio value (again not accessable via the MMC 7.5 software) but I need to figure out the values for these settings. Like I said there is a short list on my homepage.

With just a few undocumented values discovered by 'Next' I was able to make a tool that allowed us to make 'real time' VCD's with MMC 7.1 ... who knows what we could do if we dig deep into MMC 7.5

I'm asking for help because 1) I dont have enough free time right now to test everything 2) I need feedback because I'm trying to code this tool for all MMC 7.5 users (not just myself) 3) I'm trying to give back to the VCD community - I've used everyone elses tools and experiences to improve my VCD creation and I want to return the favour.

    thanks
    -stinky

  2. hey-
try and search for a post i made back when you were coding the first one. i think i sent you almost all the values i could find. i'm running nice and stable now, so i'm gonna hold on MMC 7.1 until the other ones are official...

but RTinterval is, i believe, the number of clock pulses to generate the right frame rate. there's a simple formula, something like 20,000,000/frame rate that is the RTinterval
(i know that's in the post)

i'm sure i listed the aspect ratios too. they might also be the pixel aspect ratios instead of just 4:3, 16:9. i seem to remember checking those out on video factory and getting different ones (you could get 1.0, .913, etc)

i don't know "Res", but the scaling parameters are related to the cropping. there's a button on the tv settings that crops the garbage off the edges of the picture (like vhs lines, etc). you have to cut X number of pixels off using the cropping keys and stretch it back out using the scaling keys. in the new one, if there's no cropping, it may just be that you scale of 97% to crop 3% off the edge and the rescaling is done automatically

    good luck

  3. HEY! Patrickm! great to see you again!!

I'll def search for your previous post - I must have missed it! Thanks for the info! I'm thrilled to have your help!

I just updated the tool to 0.8.2 -- I included the ability to change Vertical and Horizontal Scaling (but after reading your post here I think maybe values between 0 and 500 is too much.

Again many many thanks for the feedback - I'll go get your other post now.

Check for the homepage update in about 10 minutes - I think the zip is actually 0.8.2 right now but the html doesn't say that yet
