My SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616T has problems reading DVD+R discs burned by my NEC DVD+RW ND-2100AD DVD+R burner. The problem appears to have started when my old DVD-ROM drive failed and Dell replaced it with the SAMSUNG DVD-ROM SD-616T. My burner was replaced by Dell last year, but the system *appeared* to be working properly until the DVD-ROM was replaced this past spring.

The SD-616T will almost never read discs burned on blank Memorex DVD+R 16x discs and will only read discs burned to blank Verbatim DVD+R 16x discs about 25 percent of the time (on the first try). The discs will read/play just fine in another DVD-ROM drive and DVD player I have access to. I cannot find any applicable firmware upgrades.

I use Roxio Easy CD Creator 5.3.5.17 to burn AVI files (at 2.4x) and SONIC MyDVD to create DVDs.

I am storm chaser and convert all of my video to AVI as source files for my DVD productions.

This problem is a real pain and any suggestions would be greaterly appreciated.
