Well here I am again, he decided to can the whole shoot where the guitar sounded like crapola. I set up the rig again, this time trying different things... well we never even got to the guitar! I set the input on the camera to LINE instead of MIC and the signal from the sequencer was just barely registering on the camera meters and that was with the volume controls on the camera all the way up! LINE simply doesn't work, but even the camera book says to put it on LINE. So I thought maybe the direct box had something to do with it, so I took that outta the loop - same thing. Next I tried putting the gnd/lift switch on lift like you said, well that CREATED noise, a buzz in the camera, so had to put that back on gnd, and the camera back on MIC, and then the signal is strong and clean for the sequencer, just as we've always done it... We are going to call Presonus next and see if they know something we don't about the bluetube perhaps.... soooooooooo frustrating..

Even MORE strange, several months ago, I filmed him with the same setup in a different location and the sound was superb, but one thing we did notice is that he was using a different GUITAR, so that could be the problem at this point.... just thought i'd update ya on that whole line/mic thing... everyone says "put it on LINE", we do it, and nada =(

sounds like you may have blown the line inputs on the camera --- you should get it checked ..

it does happen - like i said , those cameras dont have great audio in capabilities ..

problem solved - blue tube gain was just too hot as the guitar has an active pickup and puts out a hotter signal than usual. Great sound now with almost 20% less gain... that solves that, I don't think we blew any inputs or anything on the camera, it just doesn't work on LINE, why i don't know, but the MIC setting with the direct box, not even a hiss, it's perfect now... next thing I need to get some cables so I can separate the guitar from the sequencer in the camera for more control, that'll be the next shoot..
