Convert H264 to a format that can be used with Nero Vision

Its driving me Nuts I have wasted about 4 hrs of my life downloading Apps to tryout >> all with no luck.. and there seems to bo no guides on how to convert H264 to ?? anything

Heres what i want to do:

I have a Mkv file >> i have split the streems and now i have subs audio and a Avi video file... but it seems that it was encoded in H264 format:
so How do i reencode to a dvd compliant Mpg when no tools that i have seen supports the H264 format?

I want to import it into VirtualDubMod and add the Subs and the Mux the Audio....

Or Mabey im just not going about it right.... I await the Dvdrhelp Gods for Help.....

try divxtodvd. i think it suppots h264 and you can import srt subs.

Nero supports it to. But yeah, if divxtodvd is still using libavcodec for input then it should handle h.264 fine.

Perhaps Nero's AVC decoder just doesn't hande the fourCC used?

Won't be an issue anymore since mkvtoolnix no longer does AVC via VfW compatibility mode. So you won't be able to get an avi out for the video.

Well it seems that AvitoDvd will do it for me.. but i have to demux the subs from the mkv and insert separate file...8( Oh well It works i guess... the only thing i don't like is that with avitodvd there is no way to adjust the size of output...

Bummer... AvitoDVD Screams at me NO I cant !!! every time i try to convert ... so no luck...
I am Trying an App called DivixtoDvd But it does not support AAC audio as an imput
I have a question....? another guide that we don't have is converting AAC/Mp4 audio to AC3 or mp3 can it be done?

Maybe divxtodvd isn't using libavcodec anymore since it should support aac? Although I guess maybe they compiled without faad since Nero changed the license?

ffmpeg (if compiled with faad) can convert aac to AC3 or mp3.
mplayer can decode the audio directly from the mkv to wav or pipe to another app.

You need to be carefull when converting raw aac though, because if it is he-aac there is a chance that some apps won't recognise it as such without a header. foobar2k would be another app for converting aac to AC3.
