  1. Hello,

I'm using MainConcept MPEG Encoder (MME) and convertings AVI's to DVD elementary audio and video streams. When it's done I load them into DVD-Lab Pro and I get a warning that says:

"Open GOP's were detected in the file. The file will play fine but Chapter points may not start accurately. In your encoder always choose closed GOP's"

When I click on "Details..." then "Advanced..." in MME it has the following settings in the "GOP Structure" section.

    I Frames: 15
    P Frames: 3
    Auto GOP: Fast
    Closed GOP Interval: 1

Do I have this setup wrong or is there another setting I should look for? Please help!

I have MME and DVD-lab PRO (DLP) also and I received this message the other night. I set the Closed GOP interval at 1 as you have set, but I had the Auto GOP set to None, and the DLP message didn't show that time. Apparently, when Auto GOP is set to Fast or VCSD, it leaves the GOPs open. I guess by definition they have to be open when you are doing scene detection, because it has to place the I-frame at the scene change and that may interrupt a GOP that was already being formed.

I don't think that open GOPs will be a problem. DLP merely brings it to your attention. The fact is you will be able to be able to place chapter points exactly where you want them: at the scene changes that were detected by MME.
