okay so i've read some posts on cyclic redundancy checks so i used dvd fab to rip the dvd to my harddisk and that worked i have all the files on disc now but... i still have problems with dvd shrink... the program still won't auto shrink the files below 4gigs? it stays at the 6.5gigs. so basically i can't get the dvd files to auto shrink.
so is there any other way to make dvd files compress onto dvd layer 5 discs?

Have you tried running it trough a second time? Got rid of all the extras?

theres no extras... its an asian dvd with like 11 26min episodes, and yea dont ask me how they fit 11episodes on there... its a layer9 dvd thou dont know if that makes a difference.
but yea i've tried numberous things but to no avail!
in the end i jus reauthored the dvd into 2 separate dvds. -
I own a couple of DVDs that DVD Shrink cannot compress below about 50%. One of them that I remember recently was "The Concert for New York City" Disk 1. I had to use a DL DVD and tell Shrink that I was using a DL or DVD-9. Then I turned off compression. Worked great using Nero to burn automatically from Shrink.

well, here's what i would recommend doing, rip it to the harddrive uncompressed using dvdshrink...then use ratdvd at the highest settings it has, then set ratdvd to output dvd files at dvd-5 filesize, i know its not THE best way to do it by any means, but its the only way i have come up with so far....

3 hours of video uncompressed is going to take a hell of a lot of room .. i doubt you really mean that ..
that method would yield some pretty crappy results compared to other methods - the best being , use two disks"Each problem that I solved became a rule which served afterwards to solve other problems." - Rene Descartes (1596-1650) -

wyteone's last post said his DVD was 11 26min episodes. That comes out to 4.7+ hours. That may be why it won't compress. It's already compressed heavily.
He likely made the right choice splitting it to two DVD's.
