Flashes added to recording

I am using a Cyberhome 1600 dvd recorder and I mainly transfer vhs to dvd. I notice that when it records the picture has flashes in it. Since the vhs does not have this in it where do the flashes come from? The flashes get recorded onto the dvd.

Do you mean slowly getting brighter, then darker, then brighter? If so, that's the protection from a copyrighted tape.

But if it's flashing like a camera or something, don't know what the h*ll that is...

They are random flashes in the recording. Very odd.
