  1. Hello
there is a new copyright protection system called cd-lock? it suppossedly can't be read by computers? so the songs can't be placed in iTunes?

does anyone have a ref to this? Id like to follow it for informational purposes. Its my understanding that all copy protection schemes can be eventually hacked, Id like to follow the different 'mechanisim'

note Apples problems with OS Intel recently.

BTW if OS Intel floats around 'free' no apple machine needed or $$ for operating system, does this greatly increase the chance of malicious hacks/spyware/worms/bugs??

would this be avoided by buying the last PCC Mac?

thats probably a seperate thead someware but also someting Id like to fololow

    thanks rotuts

A MacInTouch reader challenged reports that audio CD content controls conflict with iTunes:

It simply isn't true that the Foo Fighters and Dave Matthews Band CDs can't be imported to iPods. My copy of "In Your Honor" imported into iTunes (and subsequently onto my iPod) in MP3 format just like any other CD. A Macworld article [Copy-protected CDs: Rearview reality] confirms as much. As for the reason I bought the Foo Fighters CD despite its having copy protection, it was only because the 2-CD set was $9.99 at Target, while it costs a whopping $17.99 from the iTunes Music Store
    YMMV

Here is the link to the MacWorld article referenced in my previous post.

Nice slam of Sony/SunnComm by Chris Breen.

That’s right, despite SunnComm’s claims that its copy protection scheme makes its wares incompatible with iTunes—and therefore the iPod—when I inserted my Dave Matthews disc into three different Macs, the disc appeared, played, ripped and burned in iTunes (and transferred to my iPod) with nary a glitch, and without the need for an authorizing utility.

And this is the kind of technology that the music industry hopes will stem the tide of piracy!?

    God help them.
