  1. Is there an easy -one program type - way to convert from 30fps to 24fps for use on an Epson portable media player?

Also, out of curiosity, what is the downside of this type of conversion?

    Thansk in advance.

  3. Sorry.
    Basically mpeg2 to mpeg2.

It's really just for the convenience of using the Epson on plane and to show video clips to family, etc. Rather bland uses.

  5. OK, I have updated info for what is being done here; I am actually posting for a friend.

He has mpeg2 at 30fps files that he needs to convert to mpeg4 (divx?) at 24 fps. He also has same .avi files that he want sto similarly convert to mpeg4 24 fps.

These are to be used on his Epson media player.

    Thanks again.

the Epson media player is picky about what type of mpeg4 it supports ..

they recomend (and it is about the only thing it reliably plays) is quicktime pro ...

so get quicktime pro - get the mpeg2 plug in for it ... and load your files into and select 640x480 mpeg4 (MP4) w/ AAC audio output , 24fps , vbr highest quality 600~750 bit rate settings

  7. Try Super... It can handle mulitple inputs. I use it to convert may avi files to Divx to play on my RCA 2780 pvp. You also change the bit rate to get a better picture or a smaller file and its free.

  8. Thanks all for the info. I don't think super will change the frame rate, but I'll try it for me as I have a Lyra 2780 (presently I use pocket divx encoder).

For my friend's Epson I recomended he folow BJ_M's advice and use Quicktime pro.

All this may be OK for display on the portable device but is highly destructive.

Hang on to the masters if important.
