    i have a few avi's i wanted to edit but quicktime, VLC, mplayer won't open them yet they play just fine on my old G3(os9) which i put away just last week....i don't have classic on my G5, but i do have VPC...

    Until you have a x86 machine in your hand, you will not be able to play the video in OS X. Intel sold the codec, and to say the least the new owners aren't what we call "friendly"
