I opened a VOB in VLC and in MPlayer, took a screen capture and measured the pixels -- 855 wide (which I have never seen before). But then, when dropped on ffmpegx, it says 720. When encode at 720, it is smaller than that VOB that I view when opened side by side.

I searched the forum but didn't find anything helpful.

Is there a size limit of encoding? How is calculated? I dropped the whole VIDEO_TS folder and VOB and receive the same result.

    Any suggestions?

  2. The screen capture shows the display aspect ratio, which is not the internal stored size of a DVD which is 720 width in "all" cases. For widescreen, the "DVD 16:9" autosize should be used (which also uses 720 width).
