I just had another JVC MH30 shipped to me. I tried playing a dvd-r disc and it was stuck on stop. I then loaded another disc and the same thing happened. The only way for me to clear this was for me to unplug the dvd recorder and then plug it back on. The unit would then go through its loading stage again. I went through this for about 15 minutes before it worked with one of my discs.
If this is normal then this seems strange to me. Has anyone encountered this problem? I'm thinking of returning it and replacing it with the Pioneer since it's still under warranty. Every other equipment I have has never given me cause for concern. I would really appreciate your responses, this will enable me to reach the proper decision.
Thanks.![]()

Nope ... My DR-MH30 works like a charm. So far almost 3 month since I purchased it and no problems whatsoever. I guess you got a bad luck as someone else can get with Pioneer or any other brands.Originally Posted by Ade007

Never had that problem or any other problem with my MH30. It's been working flawlessly since I got it. I've had it on for hours at a time and never had a problem. Sorry to hear you got stuck with another bum unit. If your feeling snakebit and want to try the Pioneer, I'd certainly understand why.Originally Posted by Ade007

What is the brand and/or MEDIA ID of this DVD-R.
JVC is no different than any other recorder or player, it won't play crap media without choking.Want my help? Ask here! (not via PM!)

Ade007,
Not sure, but it may the root cause. I bought the very same model in Dec 2004. Within 2 months it would lock up when recording for more than 4 hours and then progressivle worse down to 15 minutes as time went on. The only way to unlock was to unplug the unit. I finally sent it to the JVC service center and it turns out that the unit had a faulty power "something-a-jig". They replaced it and now works like a charm again since May. I do lots of caps from VHS and TV. Like I said could be related. -
the the fuji dvd-r media works on my computer and also on my other dvd player.
DVWannaB,
How did you contact JVC? I may need to get in touch with them. I wouldn't want this to linger on. -
2 ways to reach JVC customer service. Go to their website or on the back of the manual or last few pages. I had to call JVC customer service and explain what was happening. It seems they instantly knew that they could not give me instructions to fix it, so they gave the address of the closest service center to send it to. I wrote a letter detailing what I had experienced and included a copy of my invoice inside the box. It took about a month from mailing to get it back.Originally Posted by Ade007
