i have an asus p4p800se mobo, with a p4 3.2 prescott processor, with the arctice cooling freezer fan, shown here...... http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16835185114, problem is when i installed everything, i can get power on but, its like it not doing anything, the lights come on, it sounds like its booting, but the monitor is not coming in, it just keeps the orange light, instaed of turning green. My question is something not compatible with something here, is there something is should do to prime the system for this new heatsink....any ideas...holla back

check which fan port you plugged it in on..most motherboards i've seen have a dedicated "CPU FAN" port on the mother board that is red. if you don't have a fan plugged into that port the machine does not boot..sort of a safety feature in case you get too excited and forget to plug a fan in entirely.

  4. Check to make sure all your cards and memory is still tightly seated. Especially, your video card that it didn't ride up out of the slot or you knocked it loose when installing the fan.

I'm assuming this is a new CPU cooler on an existing computer, not one just built.

One thing to check, because I recently did it myself.

When I attached the cooler to a AMD processor, it was slid ahead just a few hundreds of an inch and the base of the cooler was up on the processor socket ledge. But the effect was different, the computer would start for about ten seconds then shut down. It finally dawned on me when I saw the aluminum marks on the socket edge after I was about to go back to the old cooler. Fortunately the computer was smarter than me and shut itself down to protect the CPU.

    Just a thought.

If the cooler is the only change you made and you didn't dislodge anything during the replacement, it's a possibility.

  6. Are the RAM, CPU, PSU, and video card all known good components? I was (and still am) having the same problem. For me, the problem was the mobo. I RMA'd, hopefully the new one will work.

Also are you testing with only the CPU RAM and video card connected to the mobo?
